ZYMITOL: No Pain, Just Gain

by Rich Handley

Built on a foundation of high-potency enzymes, originally designed to ease the symptoms of aging, Zymitol helps the body activate its internal repair processes. Zymitol is a broad-spectrum enzyme formulation infused with bio-energy, which is suitable for customers wishing to normalize immune function, digestion or pain levels.

A member of Generation+'s "Quality of Life Series," Zymitol contains no extra chemicals that obstruct, inhibit or in any other way negatively affect the product's results.

INGREDIENTS

Zymitol contains no excipients. Instead, it is made up entirely of enzymes and other substances vital to maintaining proper human health. These include proteolytic enzymes, lipolytic enzymes, amylolytic enzymes, minerals, antioxidants, sulfur compounds and flavonoids.

  • Alpha Lipoic Acid (ALA) is a component of several human enzyme systems. It appears to have a positive effect on pain and may lower the activity of NFkB (Nuclear Factor kB, which can increase the activity of genes responsible for inflammation). ALA may also promote healthy blood flow to nerves, which may promote normal transmission of nerve impulses. ALA has the ability to recycle, re-activate and extend the lifespan of other antioxidants such as vitamin C, vitamin E, Glutathione and Coenzyme Q10, and it also reportedly decreases the toxic effects of some drugs used to treat pain

  •
  • Amylase is an amylolytic enzyme that catalyzes the hydrolysis of starch and glycogen or their intermediate hydrolysis products. If carbohydrates are not properly hydrolyzed, the potential for serious health concerns may develop. Amylase acts with protease to stimulate immune system function, while also working with lipase to digest certain toxins.

  •
  •
  •
  • Bromelain is a proteolytic enzyme obtained from pineapple that may guard against the formation of fibrin; once in the blood, it is said to promote normal inflammation levels, maintain healthy blood flow and support the immune system. Bromelain seems to relieve pain in chronically inflamed joints and may also ease the aching and stiffness of back muscles.

  •
  •
  •
  • Lipase, a lipolytic enzyme that hydrolyzes glycerides, converts dietary fats into essential fatty acids. As we age, our body alters the production of key enzymes such as lipase, leaving the door open for fatty acid imbalance. This may lead to many common discomforts and ailments traditionally associated with aging.

  •
  •
  •
  • Magnesium, a silver-white, metallic mineral occurring abundantly in nature, is an oft-overlooked yet simple potential treatment for pain and other conditions. Magnesium acts as a non-competitive antagonist of the N-methyl-D-aspartate receptor, which has been implicated in the transmission of pain. Magnesium is instrumental in the reaction of more than 300 enzymes.

  •
  •
  •
  • Methylsulfonylmethane (MSM) is a natural form of organic sulfur and the prime source of bio-available sulfur. The body utilizes MSM for proper enzyme activity and the promotion of proper immune system functions. MSM also promotes healthy joints and helps maintain healthy circulation. MSM is a component of over 150 compounds, including proteins-especial- ly those found in the hair, skin, muscles and connective tissue of the joints.

  •
  •
  •
  • Papain, a proteolytic enzyme in the juice of un-ripe papaya, is used in medicine and has acquired the reputation of a "biological scalpel" because it selectively digests dead tissue without affecting the surrounding live tissues. Papain goes to work when the body requires a cleansing of dead cellular material.

  •
  •
  •
  • Protease is a proteolytic enzyme with an ability to break down protein. Its role is critical, as incomplete protein digestion creates allergies and the formation of toxic substances. Undigested proteins have been linked to many health concerns and foreign invaders in the intestinal tract. Some of these invaders are parasites. Protease is largely responsible for keeping the small intestines free from parasites. A lack of protease increases the risk of intestinal infection, including an overgrowth of the yeast Candida. Protease also delivers the specific nutrients necessary to promote healthy muscle tissue, and may promote vibrant immune system function.

  •
  •
  •
  • Rutin is a flavonoid said to promote healthy circulation, as it has the ability to improve capillaries and veins and supports the regeneration capacity of human body tissues. Rutin is also a powerful antioxidant that fights free radicals and seems to have a protective effect against syndromes lowering the body's oxygen supply. Like other ingredients in Zymitol, rutin reportedly promotes healthy aging.

  •
  •
  •
  • Finally, the proteolytic enzyme serrapeptase breaks down "non-living" matter in the body. This action may promote a reduction in levels of dead tissue, causing smoother, healthier flowing blood. It is marketed in Asia under the trade name Danzen, and in Europe as Anaflazyme

THE EXPERTS SPEAK OUT

Our research on Zymitol turned up many professionals and consumers who tout its effectiveness. Stephen Heuer, a nutripath and Overseer of Cocoon Nutrition (Cupertino, CA), uses Zymitol for patients with joint pain and other bodily damage involving proteins, bruises, fibromyalgia, and muscle and joint soreness. "It does a great job of digesting food and increasing elimination," Heuer says. "One of my staff loves the effects on his digestion and elimination."

Krystal Greene, Ph.D., a biological medicine practitioner in Tucson, AZ, treats athletes with Zymitol. "I work with a lot of athletes who have injuries," she explains. "Zymitol has a profound effect as an anti-inflammatory and overall restorative capabilities for soft tissue injuries."

Peter R. Brosnan, D.C., N.D., a chiropractic and naturopathic physician in Lake Charles, LA, and a Diplomate of the American Academy of Pain Management, also uses Zymitol for his patients. "The food we eat supplies us with more than just fuel for function. Raw materials need to be digested, processed, distributed and assimilated. Think about this for a change of pace: every tissue, cell and organ is being replicated, moment by moment, every day of your life. How are these activities to take place healthily in a stressed, sick and suffering organism? A lifetime of ingesting chemically-altered, growth hormone-injected food... antibiotics since birth... way over-medicated... foodstuffs grown on industrially treated, depleted soil watered with industrial runoff... how can we expect our bodies to be functionally restored to a healthy state?"

This, Brosnan asserts, is the generation that needs the "plus" added to our lifestyle. "Consider this a normal day in the life of a restored you! Gently drifting off to sleep, knowing you are well fed, you have supplemented your day with great potential for antioxident support, vitamin C and magnesium assistance, pancreatic enzyme support for insulin regulatory repletion. You begin to rest, knowing your joints, tendons and connective tissue repair is ongoing. The vitamin-like antioxident absorption - both fat-soluble and water-soluble - potentially decongesting the liver, converting food to energy, repairing damaged molecules, turning glucose to glucogon, replenishing vitality for brain function. You turn over and are just awake enough to be reminded that the shoulder pain of the past is just that... past."

Goldhara McKay, a structural integration practitioner in Phoenix, AZ, uses not only Zymitol but also Naticor and Digesticol, and recommends all three to her clients. "I'm a bodywork practitioner," McKay states, "so my main interest in getting started with the product line had to do with antiinflammation. I'm always dealing with inflammatory responses in the connective tissues and the joints, either from injury or degenerative diseases such as arthritis-anything that can reduce that inflammation and the pain response in the body." Clients with chronic pain, she says, don't want to live on Tylenol or Ibuprofen, so enzymes are a great natural alternative. "When people start taking them, all of a sudden everything shifts-your metabolism improves, all kinds of functions improve and you just start getting this overwhelming sense of well-being. You can't get this when you continue on Ibuprofen for six months, but you can with enzymes."

Bernadine Paull, Ph.D., a practitioner in Pineville, MO, who maintains a retreat for people to visit when they need to relax, reports that Zymitol works for all of her customers, regardless of age, gender, ethnicity or specific health condition. "The reason is that we don't get the enzymes in the food. Where's the value in our food? We have to bring enzymes to the body. Across the board, they're excellent-and when Dr. Kronn infused it, his infusion improved it 50 percent." What's more, side effects are minimal-Paull reports a couple of patients having constipation with Zymitol, but this has occurred with only two out of the hundreds she treats. "It's a very rare thing. The only thing, as it says on the bottle, is that you don't give this to someone who's taking a blood-thinner (Cumidin and products like that), or you can have internal bleeding. It says that as a warning on the label, and some of the others don't. That's so important."

Dan Bartoli, a patient coordinator and nutritional counselor at Integrated Medical Specialists in Stockbridge, GA, says he is "extremely happy" with Zymitol, adding, "We use it here at our clinic. I'm a patient coordinator and nutritional counselor, and I incorporate Zymitol into virtually every case. When you get down to the nitty-gritty, every human being over thirty should take it." Bartoli has been especially pleased in how Zymitol has helped his cancer patients."We use it on a lot of cancer patients," he explains, "by virtue of the fact that it cuts down the unwanted protein in the bloodstream. When there's too much fibrin, cancer can build a fibrin raincoat and coarse its way through your veins unnoticed by white blood cells."

Zymitol, says Bartoli, helps get the unwanted protein in the bloodstream down to a reasonable level, lowering the body's proteolytic enzyme reserve back to a normal level. "We deplete our own enzyme reserves because we cook our food; ultimately, you're going to run out. Once you do, you start working on your reserves, and if you go to the bank and make a three-dollar deposit every month and consistently take out ten, then at some point, you're going to have a deficit." This, he says, is how most Americans live because we cook most of our meals and consume so many processed foods, which contain preservatives and other potentially harmful additives.

'I do have one fibromyalgia case," Bartoli beams, "that was really phenomenal." Fibromyalgia, also called "ghost pain," is a disease in which pain seems to move around randomly from one part of the body to another. "What's happening is that you have two much fibrin in your blood, and some of it leaks out and you get what's known as a fibroblast. These things perpetuate soft tissue inflammation, so a small bump becomes a large pain." This particular patient, he says, spent twelve or fifteen years visiting numerous doctors, all of whom believed psychiatric care would be her best course of treatment. "The long and short of it is that on the third day she was on Zymitol, her fibromyalgia of twelve years disappeared. As long as she stays on the stuff (she's taking six a day), she's pain-free. That was the most phenomenal case I had."

Louise Hamilton, D.C., a chiropractor in Altadena, CA, says she uses Zymitol for clients who need something fairly strong and are not allergic or sensitive to MSM. "Generally, I use it for worn-out knees and joints, or any type of inflammation or auto-immune problem like rheumatoid arthritis, where I can't work on any of the joints. If the person has rheumatoid, I leave it alone." Hamilton frequently performs ultrasound to get out scar tissue out, using Zymitol in conjunction with this treatment. "Ultrasound takes a lot of work," she says. "You can't reach more than half an inch into the body, and it draws blood to the area, so this works very well with the ultrasound. I do more ultrasound than most people do-to me, it just makes sense to balance the muscles and get them relaxed, and then you can do a more gentle adjustment that will hold. If they have the enzyme in their system, in the blood, it comes to the area I'm working with and takes away and digests the fibrin."

Scar tissue, Hamilton, explains, helps the body heal; once it's set down, though, the body ignores it, and it can tear loose and re-set. "I've had a lot of people with tabletop-hard upper backs, who think they're strong but the muscle hasn't been used for years. After several times with the ultrasound, before I had the enzymes, I would find that the muscle was slack and very relaxed, and after a couple of days it was normal. So I make them stretchier. This product does also, but it works where I can't reach: in the kidneys and in other areas where you have scar tissue."

Tere Keating, a consumer located in Studio City, CA, is among those using Zymitol to treat scar tissue. "About a year-and-a-half ago, a friend of mine gave me a bottle of Vitalzym. He told me it was a product that eats the fibrin (scar tissues) in our bodies, which unbeknownst to me can accumulate over the course of our lifetimes and where diseases can begin. Who wants scar tissues inside or out, I said to myself, and here my journey began." After going through a few large bottles of Vitalzym, her friend did some research and gave her a bottle of Zymitol. "Being an avid hiker whether at home or traveling the country," Keating says, "God knows I will always find the nearest trail through nature. What I also found after starting on this product was I could hike longer and faster with the least of efforts or soreness, feeling incredibly elated at the end."

Dr. Craig Landry, a clinical physiologist in Austin, TX, also made the switch from Vitalzym to Zymitol. "Vitalzym is a good product, but Zymitol is much better. It's twice as strong and doesn't have any bad stuff in it, so it beats the pants off the other one." Landry recommends Zymitol to all his patients, especially those with anti-inflammatory conditions and organ disfunction. "I've had a number of patients, and some of them don't have health problems, who have said, "Well, I don't feel any different, but I trust your opinion as a physiologist so if you say this is something really important to vibrant longevity, then I'm there." There's that category of patient. Then there's a number of patients who say, "Gosh, since I've been taking it, I feel so much better. Whatever symptom, this or that or the other, is improving. I'm thinking clearer or my joints don't hurt me anymore or whatever it might be."

RECOMMENDED USAGE

Two-Week Loading Phase: Three to five vegetable capsules with at least eight fluid ounces of water three times daily, 45-60 minutes away from large meals. For best results, the company recommends three to five capsules at bedtime, three to five upon waking and three to five more in the middle of the day.

Maintenance Dosage: Depending upon the level of discomfort, Generation+ recommends one to five vegetable capsules with at least eight fluid ounces of water three times daily, 45-60 minutes away from large meals. For best results, take one to five capsules at bedtime, one to five upon waking and one to five more in the middle of the day.
