Indications:
From what we know historically as well as current research studies, the consensus is that the Chinese tonic herbs in this formula serve not only to enhance general health, but also to treat various diseases. This can be attributed to the high nutrient levels of these herbs as well as their immune-enhancing qualities. The herbs in this therapeutic combination fall under the category of adaptogens, biological response modifiers, or immune enhancers. They render it easier for the body to adapt to challenges. This is done by controlling the operations of the adrenal cortex, augmenting the production and longevity of white and red blood cells, and prompting the release of immune-balancing interferons and immunoglobulins. Astragalus Combo can reduce the adverse effects of auto-immune diseases, chemotherapy, immune deficiency disorders, radiation, and surgery. This powerful combination of tonics helps those who are ill to endure the more aggressive features of allopathic treatment, making them less apt to suffer side effects, improving survival rates, and enhancing quality of life. It must be cautioned, however, that this blend of herbs should not be seen as a substitute for other conventional treatments. Those experiencing a chronically compromised immune system, physical weakness, or lack of vitality of any kind, whether from infection or auto-immune deficiency, will derive benefit from this formula.

Astragalus (Astragalus membranaceus)
Astragalus in combination with other Chinese herbal medicines has been demonstrated to increase survival time in small cell lung cancer patients by an average of 3 to 17 years . Astragalus has also been shown to increase the effectiveness of chemotherapy in cancer, to reduce recurrence rates, reduce adverse effects of chemotherapies, and increase survival time. Astragalus also has beneficial effects on the heart.

Codonopsis (Codonopsis pilosula)
Often used as a substitute for Ginseng in tonics, Codonopsis is sometimes referred to as "poor man's Ginseng". Codonopsis contains many polysaccharides, effective immune potentiating substances. Codonopsis has proven blood-building effects. Codonopsis can be used to reduce blood pressure.

Reishi mushroom (Ganoderma lucidum)
Reishi has long been revered in traditional Chinese medicine, as a tonic to prolong life, similar in effect to Ginseng. Reishi has demonstrated antitumor, antiallergic, antiinflammatory, antibacterial, blood sugar regulating, and antibiotic effects.

Siberian Ginseng (Eleutherococcus senticosus)
Siberian Ginseng is one of our most versatile botanicals. Siberian Ginseng has immunomudulatory effects, especially for antiviral applications. Siberian Ginseng improves resistance to radiation and chemotherapy, as evidenced by more than doubling the survival time in rats exposed to radiation. Siberian Ginseng enhances immunity, and minimizes side effects from radiation and chemo.

Ligustrum (Ligustrum lucidum)
As with the other herbs in this formula, Ligustrum nourishes the kidneys; it also nourishes liver. Chinese studies have confirmed numerous effects of this herb, including immunomodulating, antitumor, antimutagenic, antiinflammatory, anti-allergic, and cardiotonic effects.

Schisandra (Schisandra chinensis)
A classic and valued botanical from the annals of traditional Chinese medicine, Schisandra is also traditionally applied in cases of lung and kidney deficiency, associated with night sweats, wasting, shortness of breath, and loose stool. Schisandra is also a potent adaptogen, helping to improve resistance to stress. Schisandra has been shown to be a valuable medicine for the liver and immune system. One report revealed reversal of viral hepatitis in 76% of patients within 25 days of treatment.

White Atractylodes (Atractylodes macrocephala)
Another classic traditional Chinese tonic, Atractylodes is an excellent adjunct to the other herbs in this formula, especially for it's immunopotentiaing and protective effect in chemo and radiation therapies. Atractylodes has also been proven to have hypoglycemic and diuretic effects. Atractylodis is a great tonic, for increasing stamina and weight.

Licorice (Glycyrrhiza glabra)
A valuable tonic and stress-relieving medicine, Licorice is also a proven immunostimulatory herb, having notably potent anti-viral effects. The Glycyrrhizinic acid constituent of Licorice has proven anti-viral effects, via stimulation of interferon production. Licorice is also effective for treatment of viral hepatitis. The flavanoid component has been shown to have antioxidant effects (weight for weight) exceeding that of vitamin E by 200-fold.

Administration and Dosage:
This formula may need to be taken for three (3) to six (6) months. For Immune enhancing, the dosage is 25-50 drops in a little water 3-4 times daily, between meals. For Viral Infections the dosage can go up to 2ml - 10ml in a little water 4 times per day - either one hour after a meal or 10 minutes before a meal.
