The following is a brief explanation of the individual ingredients and the rationale for their use:

It is a proven protectant of the skin, shielding it from UV damage, and has notable antioxidant properties, which relate to the treatment of inflammation. Calendula: David Hoffman remarks that this valuable herb, our best vulnerary, "is also benefit for slow-healing wounds and skin ulcers, and ideal for first-aid treatment of minor burns and scalds."

Comfrey: With its abundant amounts of allantoin and mucilage, this prime vulnerary herb promotes the growth of new cells and has recognized healing properties for skin wounds and irritations. It is also a mild analgesic.

Vitamin E: An Antioxidant, helping to stabilize and repair cell membranes while reducing oedema and erythema.

Essential Oil of French Lavender: Traditionally used to treat skin conditions as well as sores, bruises, varicose ulcers, burns and scalds.

Ester C: Used on the skin to promote collagen synthesis and improve inflammatory conditions. It also protects skin cells from UV-induced damage and is a stimulant to wound healing.

Aloe Vera: Moisturizing and emollient, aloe vera contributes antibacterial, analgesic, and anti-inflammatory qualities to the cream.

Myrrh: Traditionally employed for wounds and abrasions and has antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties.
